Guidelines

Note: The minimum recommended thickness for mortar application on floors and walls is 1/4 (6mm) 2 (50mm)

The recommended sand for mortar mix is mortar or concretizing sand. All other sands are deemed unsuitable for mortar mixes.

Mortar is best recommended for the following applications:

  • Plastering over bricks.
  • Adhering bricks or concrete blocks to one another to provide stability.
  • To compensate for irregularity between units.
  • To seal any gaps to resist wind or rain penetration.
  • As a binder between bricks in walls, fences, and walkways.
  • To make quick repairs in patio slabs and reset loosened stones or bricks in a walkway or retaining walls.
  • To set small equipment firmly in the ground, minimizing the chances of the equipment shifting or toppling while in use.
