A Sustainable Approach to Road Construction Seminar Presentations Available

Trinidad Cement Limited (TCL), in conjunction with Lake Asphalt and Danny’s Enterprises Company Ltd. hosted a seminar entitled “Concrete Roads, Soil Cement and Asphalt – A Sustainable Approach to Road Construction” on Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Port of Spain Room, Hyatt Regency from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The seminar was facilitated by consultants from Danny’s Enterprises and the Wirtgen Group (Germany) and was geared towards highlighting sustainable methods of road construction used globally, including soil cement stabilization, cold in place recycling and concrete roads.

Hon. Austin Jack Warner – Minister of Works & Transport to deliver the Feature Address at Sustainable Road Construction Seminar

The Honourable Austin Jack Warner – Minister of Works & Transport is the keynote speaker at an upcoming seminar on sustainable road construction, being hosted by Trinidad Cement Limited (TCL), in conjunction with Lake Asphalt of Trinidad & Tobago and Danny’s Enterprises Co. Ltd.

Titled “Concrete Roads, Soil Cement and Asphalt – A Sustainable Approach to Road Construction”, the seminar will take place on October 18, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency from 9:00am to 3:00pm and is geared towards highlighting sustainable methods of road construction used globally, including soil cement stabilization, cold in place recycling and concrete roads.

Providing expertise on concrete roads will be Cecil Chin, a civil engineer who has worked on numerous road rehabilitation and upgrading projects both locally and throughout the CARICOM region. Mr. Chin, who is also a former President of the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad & Tobago (APETT) and the Trinidad & Tobago Contractors’ Association (TTCA), has been responsible for the construction and design of roads, bridges and infrastructure projects for over 30 years. 

Presentations will also be conducted by world renowned civil engineer, David Collings who specialises in road rehabilitation and has been actively involved in numerous road rehabilitation and upgrading projects worldwide.

“Concrete Roads, Soil Cement and Asphalt – A Sustainable Approach to Road Construction” will also be facilitated by other consultants from Danny’s Enterprises and the Wirtgen Group (Germany). World Renowned Civil Engineer – David Collings to Speak at Seminar on
Sustainable Road Construction

David Collings – a highly acclaimed Civil Engineer who specialises in pavement (road) rehabilitation is one of the feature speakers at an upcoming seminar on sustainable road construction, being hosted by Trinidad Cement Limited (TCL), in conjunction with Lake Asphalt of Trinidad & Tobago and Danny’s Enterprises Co. Ltd.

Mr. Collings will add tremendous value to the seminar - “Concrete Roads, Soil Cement and Asphalt – A Sustainable Approach to Road Construction” as he has a deep understanding and many years of experience in the design and implementation of innovative methods for road rehabilitation. Over the last 30 years, he has been actively involved in the development of recycling technology and flexible stabilizing agents, which has led to his participation in numerous road restoration and upgrading projects worldwide. He has travelled extensively over the past twenty (20) years, delivering lectures and conference papers, as well as hosting seminars and workshops on the topic. He has also been the principal author for all editions of the Wirtgen Cold Recycling Manual since it was first published in 1998. Currently a freelance specialist on road rehabilitation projects, Mr. Collings was a former Director with PD Naidoo & Associates (PDNA) of South Africa, responsible for off-shore roads projects.
